In the early morning hours on Saturday July 23rd, our team at 151 Maiden Lane started their final foundation slab concrete pour for the AC Marriott Hotel. Men were on site at midnight to set up and concrete began flowing just after 2:30 AM. For nearly 12 hours, between 2:30 AM and 2:00 PM, over 1,000 yards of concrete were poured. The pour took place overnight due to the high temperatures and also to avoid any traffic, as the South Street Seaport is a heavily congested area.
Project Executive Tony Catanzaro applauded the effort of our entire project team stating they were the ones who made this possible. When asked about the pour, Project Superintendent John Deroion stated that “it was the culmination of two hard weeks of work that was a direct result of the teamwork between Pizzarotti IBC and our subcontractors.” John also added that, “at the end of the day, [our subcontractors] are the ones who get the work done.”
The next major project milestone will take place this coming Saturday when the remaining foundation walls and columns will be poured, followed by the pouring of the first floor slab. The building will be going vertical from there!
