Sandy Velasquez joined Pizzarotti in June of 2017 as a Fire Safety Manager. In her current position on our 161 Maiden Lane project, Sandy works closely with the Management and Safety Team to ensure subcontractor compliance with safety rules at the project.
The opportunity to work for an international company is something that Sandy is grateful for and she calls every day a proud day. Her favorite part about working at Pizzarotti is the opportunity to learn. In her current role, she is able to learn as much as she can about the industry. Sandy can control situations and perform her job while also learning along the way. Her experience at 161 Maiden Lane has allowed her to demonstrate her knowledge by solving new challenges every day.
Recently, Sandy obtained a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certificate. She also recently became on OSHA Outreach Trainer, completing her OSHA 500 certification. This certification allows her to teach OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour construction safety and health outreach classes.
One thing Sandy feels strongly about is providing more opportunities for women in the construction industry. With advancement in mind, Sandy’s next goal is to become a Site Safety Manager. We are excited to see how she progresses in her career and look forward to celebrating her future accomplishments!
